Sometimes the portrait session you envision does not go quite the way you planned!  That is especially true when your subject is two-years-old! My studio was all set up for a sweet little fairy shoot.  I had made an adorable outfit and flower crown.  There was a mushroom to sit on and cute little props with the forest backdrop and I knew this beautiful little girl would be the perfect subject!  But... on this particular day this adorable little one was just not too happy about being photographed!  In spite of the tears, I was able to capture a couple smiles and sweet moments.  To avoid traumatizing her more I suggested we head outside and try more of a lifestyle session.  I followed her around like paparazzi and captured the moments of her just being herself.  Both grandmas were also visiting so it was important to get photos with them.  I had to be quick as she was on the move!  Fortunately, she was much happier once we got outside!  There was one photo the family wanted to recreate.  Before she could even walk I took a photo of Mom and Dad holding her hands in between them.  Even though you cannot see her face, I love that they chose the one that clearly shows her personality at this age!!  The plan is to photograph them every year in the same pose.  What a great wall of portraits that will be!!

I think the only thing better than photographing a newborn baby girl is...photographing two newborn baby girls!  I have to say, I have had some pretty difficult babies in my studio over the years.  Not these girls!  They let me do pretty much whatever I wanted!  Seriously, best babies ever!  Big sister came in for a few quick photos too.  In my studio safety always comes first.  The photographs of big sister pushing the babies in the buggy was done as a composite image.  Big sister had an empty buggy.  The babies were photographed in the buggy with mom sitting in arms reach and supporting the baby's head.  Mom was edited out and the babies were edited into the photograph with their big sister.  I love how it turned out!  They chose to have this image printed and framed in a gorgeous frame to hang over their fireplace.  Such a beautiful family!  I knkow they will enjoy thier heirloom photograph for many years to come!

Shelter Dogs

We have all been on a list a time or two.  Some are good lists to be on and some, well, not so good.  All these adorable dogs are on a list that no dog should be on.  Their time here is on final countdown.  The shelter is full.  If you are thinking of adding a dog to your family stop by the Fayette County Animal Shelter and see if there is a special animal that will be a good fit.  These sweet, gentle dogs just want to be loved and played with.  Share their photos and let's try to get them on the list of adoptees!

I had a fun time photographing this adorable 9-month-old!  When she first arrived she was not sure what to think of me or my studio.  Her facial expressions went from somber to pensive to curious and finally to smiles!  I think she decided she really liked me because there were many smiles to come!  She has a very endearing personality.  She was at a great age for her photo shoot.  She was just on the verge of crawling.  When she came back for the ordering appointment she had figured it out and there was not stopping her!  Amazing the difference a couple weeks can make!

I had the best time loving on and photographing these animals!  They are all such great pets!  The only problem is...all these fun loving and beautiful animals reside at the Fayette County Animal Shelter!  While the people there are wonderful and the place is very clean, it is not a home.  Staff and volunteers do their very best to give attention to every animal but, it is not enough.  These animals all need a home.  Look at all the sweet faces!  For whatever reason, each of these animals has been let down by their human.  If you are thinking of adding a pet to your home, check out the shelters.  But, before you do that, understand that having a pet is a life-long commitment!  Be certain that you can be a responsible pet owner and then, pick your petIs your next family member in one of these photos?  I hope so!!
