Sessions are held at my studio or at the location of your choice. Before taking any photos, I like to hear what you want to get from our photo shoot—we will discuss your style, clothing options and any other ideas or special needs you may have. While I am willing to travel, there will be an additional charge for travel over 20 miles from Legacy Portraits’ studio. If you would like to schedule an outdoor photo shoot, please keep in mind that the best lighting is in the early morning and late afternoon.
All newborn photo shoots are done at Legacy Portraits’ studio. The best time to photograph your newborn is before he or she is 10 days old. Babies are still in the sleepy state, which makes it easier to get the “squishy” newborn poses. Newborn sessions typically range from two to four hours, as I like to allow plenty of time for feeding, diaper changes and lots of cuddling! My main concern is the comfort and safety of your baby.
I have various hats, headbands, blankets and props that you are welcome to use. Photo shoots are also great opportunities to highlight treasured items—a quilt or heirloom rattle, for example. If you have something you love, bring it along!
Newborn sessions fill up fast. I schedule these based on your due date. After the big day arrives, we put a definite date and time on the calendar. Your professionally edited images will be ready for you to view two weeks to three after your session. I create a memorable slideshow of your photos and project them so that you can select your favorites. After viewing your photos, we create a custom wall gallery for a specific place in your home. Using snapshots of your wall space, I can show you how exact sizes, frame styles and groupings will look. All wall portraits come professionally framed and ready to hang.
Please bring all decision-makers to the viewing appointment, as this is when you will place your order. Framed photographs are available for pickup within two to four weeks of the order date. The studio accepts all major credit cards.
